The Brother Martin chemistry students participated in a special holiday chemistry lab. Students took to the lab using the techniques consistent with Tollens’ test, or the ‘silver-mirror test’, created by Bernhard Tollens. This experimental lab helps to show students that chemical reactions can be very complex and at the same time produce real silver ions. These silver ions can then line glass, making a mirror. Students will be able to take the product of their labs, a glass ornament, home as a Christmas keepsake.
Merry Christmas from the science department!
