On a damp, windy night, the Brother Martin beach volleyball club finished in first place in two of the three divisions to capture the fall league championship marking the best finish in program history. In the C division, the Crusaders stumbled at the start, fought back to force a game three, but fell to the Tigers to finish third in their division.
No. 2 duo Brandon Bonura and Ryan Templet cruised in their opening round match to defeat Holy Cross in straight sets. Bonura & Templet were neck-and-neck with their Jesuit opponents in the first two sets of the B division championship to force a game 3. A crucial block by Bonura helped surge the Crusaders past the Blue Jays to victory.
In the A division’s first match, Vinny Giovingo & Nathan Levandoske battled a tough Holy Cross team to win in three sets and advance to the championship. After splitting the first two games, Giovingo & Levandoske used their momentum to carry them to a 15-12 victory over Jesuit in the championship.
