On Friday, March 13th, Brother Martin celebrated a school-wide liturgy for Lent. Faculty and students were encouraged to wear their “All In” t-shirts to emphasize the theme of the day’s Gospel which was Jesus’ Great Commandment, to be “all in” for God and each other. In conjunction with the Lenten Mass, students from Brother Martin and the other four local Brothers’ schools all held a common day of fasting and almsgiving to encourage the faculty, staff, and students in our observation of Lent and to support the Brothers’ missions overseas. The students, faculty, and staff at Brother Martin raised $2,200 for the Brothers’ Amatongas School in Mozambique which will go towards the purchase of furniture for their boarding school.
After the Mass, Brother Martin’s 2015 Alumnus of the Year, Dr. Henry “Hank” Eiserloh MD ’84, was introduced to the students and gave a short, inspirational speech to the student body.
Afterwards, members of the Society of 1869 were invited to a small reception in the Brother Jean Sobert, S.C., Alumni & Development Office.
