Basketball Tops John Curtis, 87-70

IMG_5016On Friday night, the Crusaders enjoyed their first district home game of the season against the John Curtis Patriots. The Crusaders were victorious by a score of 87 – 70 thanks to the efforts of senior Tyler Epps who scored 41 points, which is believed to be the most points scored by an individual in a single game in school history. Epps made an impressive 75% of his field goal attempts (12 for 16) and shot 81% at the free throw line (13 for 16). “To score 41 points on 16 field goal attempts is fairly rare. Tyler played a complete game”, said Coach Chris Biehl. In addition, scoring in double figures for the Crusaders were Tyler Lally (16 points) and T.J. Small (10 points). Other contributors to the winning effort were Victor Tomlinson, Javier Perez, Davonn Moore, and Nick Turner.

The Crusaders will defend their early lead in the Catholic League when they return to the court on Tuesday, January 16 as they travel to Jesuit to take on the Blue Jays. It will be a triple header when the ninth grade team tips off at 4:30 p.m., junior varsity at 5:45 p.m., and varsity at 7 p.m. “Our game on Tuesday at Jesuit is an opportunity to go on the road and try to win an away game against a solid basketball team. We will need all of the support from our students that we can get”, says Coach Biehl.
