Basketball Has Successful Break

IMG_9199Over the break, the Brother Martin basketball team went on a 3-0 streak to finish the regular season at 22-8 and 7-3 in district.

Forward Bruce Jordan-Swilling came through on the road in a Catholic League matchup against Rummel.

With just seconds remaining, Jordan-Swilling rebounded the missed shot opportunity by teammate Irv Smith and scored a layup just before the clock hit 0:00 for a 47-45 victory in overtime.

In its final home game of the regular season, Brother Martin defeated the Shaw Eagles 87-45.  The Crusaders scored 22 points in the first two quarters and scored 27 points in the third to put the game out of reach.

Luke Walker and Vejon Wallis who scored 14 points each while Tre’ Swilling finished with 13 points and Irv Smith added 10 in the win.

Lastly, the team traveled to Holy Cross to close out the regular season.  The Crusaders got off to a fast start and never looked back in their 79-42 win over the Tigers.

Bruce Jordan-Swilling tallied 15 points and Luke Walker added 13 points. Irv Smith contributed 10 points.

The Crusader Basketball team opens the LHSAA playoffs on Friday vs. Comeaux in the Conlin Gym at 7pm. Tickets are $6.
