Archbishop Aymond '67 CJ Celebrates Catholic Schools Week

ArchbishopCrusaders from each grade level represented Brother Martin High School at the annual Catholic Schools Week Mass celebrated by Archbishop Aymond ‘67 CJ at St. Dominic Church on Friday, February 3, 2017. Students from Brother Martin joined nearly 1,000 students from various Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New Orleans.  This year’s theme for Catholic Schools Week was “Catholic Schools:  Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service.”  During the Mass, Archbishop Aymond in his homily challenged the students to proclaim the Gospel to others without fear.  Since the Mass was celebrated on the Feast of St. Blaise, at the end of the Mass Archbishop Aymond invited one student from each school to have his or her throat blessed. Then, Archbishop Aymond told these students that they need to bring this blessing back to their schools.  Senior Roderick Thornton represented Brother Martin in having his throat blessed by Archbishop Aymond.

Brother Louis Couvillon, S.C., ordained Brother of the Sacred Heart, concelebrated the Mass along with Fr. Gary Copping ‘85. In addition, the Crusaders saw Fr. Michael Schneller ‘64 SA and took a picture with fellow Crusader Archbishop Gregory Aymond ‘67 CJ.
