We are excited that this year the Brother Martin Math Department has added two new AP Courses. In addition to AP Calculus AB, Brother Martin is now offering a separate course of AP Calculus BC to a group of 6 students – J. P. Ledet ’17, Joseph Aguda ’18, Jeremy Baier ’18, Michael Barkemeyer ’18, Thinh Nguyen ’18, and Jackson Vicknair ’18. This AP Course provides the students with the equivalent of a 2 semester college Calculus course. These students will have the opportunity to test out of two semesters of college Calculus with a successful AP score.
Brother Martin has also added an AP Statistics course. Six students – Hunter Mathas ‘17, Adam Peters ‘17, André Roevens ‘17, Trey Andrews ‘17, Kaden Zimmerman ‘17, Manny Guillot ‘17- have elected to take this course in addition to their required math course. Three of these six students are also enrolled in AP Calculus. According to AP Stats teacher extraordinaire, Mr. Ryan Skyta, “Statistics is one of the most useful and powerful branches of Mathematics. Knowing how to think critically and analyze the data that is presented to our students will tremendously help them, regardless of what career they choose.”
