The Crusader wrestling team traveled to Germantown, TN scoring 238 points while capturing their 11th win in the Black Horse Invitational. The Crusaders placed 12 of their 14 starters in the top eight in respective weight classes. Junior Luke Cotton also won his third consecutive Black Horse title while Patrick Evans took home an individual title. Finishing as tournament runners-up were Daniel Varnado, Lane Boudreaux and Nathaniel Perdue. Other place finishers were Daniel Croy (third place), Matt Williams (sixth place), Noah Roux (sixth place), Paul Elmer (fourth place), Fernando Diaz (seventh place), Somon Anderson (sixth place) and Mack Brown (fourth place).
The Crusader second team also scored 112 points finishing in ninth place out of 23 teams in the same tournament. Placing for the second team were Connor Hoffman (third place), Riley Horvath (seventh place), Justin Leal (second place), Alex Duncan (third place), John Oliver (seventh place) and Garrett Legendre (eighth place).
In addition, the Crusader third team finished in third place at the George Trygg Memorial Tournament held at Grace King High School. The team was led by Vincent Rizzo and he claimed the tournament champion title. Congratulations to Jake Spellman (second place), Brandon Cotton (second place), Ross Mayer (second place), Jackson Tramuta (second place) Jared Gaudet (third place), Eric Gegenheimer (fourth place) and Bailey Stretzinger (fourth place) for placing in the tournament.
The wrestling team will return to action on Wednesday, December 7 at Archbishop Shaw High School. The varsity will begin at 6:30 p.m.
