On Saturday, 24 September 2011, the Brother Martin NJROTC unit competed in Area 8 Color Guard Drill Meet at the Naval Air Station in Belle Chasse, LA. The competition consisted of an inspection conducted by Active Duty military personnel from the Navy and Marine Corps, followed by each Color Guard Team executing a standardized drill routine. Brother Martin competed against nine other teams from the Area 8 Region, which includes the states of Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and Arkansas. Although they did not win the Drill Meet, Brother Martin’s Color Guard team finished with one of the higher scores for the day and earned Bravo Zulu for a job well done by the Area 8 Manager, Commander Ladner.
