An Angelic Christmas

Members of the Crusader Novice, Symphonic, and Concert bands entertained a huge audience this past week at Roussel Hall on Loyola University’s campus for the annual Christmas Concert. Taking advantage of the superb acoustical space, the band performed robustly, with a variety of pieces from hymns like “Angels We Have Heard on High” and “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” to festive holiday selections such as “Jingle Bells and Jungle Drums” and “All I Want for Christmas is You.” The evening begin with a flute trio on “Pachelbel’s Canon,” included a piano interlude by Drum Major Duval Salvant, and ended with a flourish as junior Brandon Gaillot led the band with his arrangement of Paul O’Neill’s “Christmas in Sarajevo,” featuring Nicholas Tanner on electric guitar. Thanks to Band Director Dominick Caronna ’85 and Assistant Band Director Chris Bailey ’86 for their strong leadership of our talented musicians.
