Academic Games Victorious in NOAGL Competition

BMAG_Logo-292x300The Varsity Academic Games team swept local competition in the New Orleans Academic Games League, winning all four games played. The last time the Crusaders took home all four game titles in a single season was during the 2011-2012 school year. The four games played are Propaganda, Equations, Presidents and On-Sets.

In the most recent tournament of On-Sets, Dominique Lousteau ‘16, Hunter Mathas ‘17 and Austin Kain ‘17 comprised the first place team. All three team members went undefeated in their matches and competed in a three-way playoff to determine the best Varsity On-Sets player in the league. Lousteau won the match, with Kain and Mathas finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

Adam Peters ‘17 and Tarik Lopez ‘17 rounded out the Top 5 of the individual On-Sets competition. Along with teammate, Trey Andrews ‘17, these three students were members of the second place team.

After the regular tournament season, Brother Martin has five players in the Varsity Division who have qualified and will be invited to attend the Academic Games Leagues of America National Tournament. These players are Dominique Lousteau (first place overall in the Varsity Division for the second year in a row and winner of three games this season), Hunter Mathas (2nd overall), Adam Peters (3rd), Trey Andrews (5th), and Austin Kain (7th).

Only ten students from the entire Varsity Division have been invited to attend this year’s national tournament in Atlanta, Georgia, in late April. Students are ranked in their division based on their combined scores from the four different league competitions.
