On Saturday, January 19, members of the Academic Games team competed at the National WWII Museum, inside of BB’s Stage Door Canteen, as part of the New Orleans Academic Games League’s 2019 Presidents Tournament. Students were asked questions about the Presidents of the United States, ranging from William McKinley to Donald Trump.
The twelve members of Brother Martin’s team were split into three teams. These students all competed in the Junior Division against other freshmen and sophomores. The “A” team comprised of Landin Sanborn, Anthony Wei, Logan Millet, and Matthew Lindner took first place, outscoring the next best team by 74 points. The “B” team made up of Kyle Borde, Daniel Winstein, Tyronne Burrel, and Landon Merritt increased their lead from Round 1 to secure a third-place finish.
Logan Millet finished in 6th place individually with 90 points. Anthony Wei and Kyle Borde tied for third; however, they were both only 2 points behind teammate Landin Sanborn who finished in 2nd place with 98 points. This is the third Academic Games team championship that Brother Martin has won this season.
Saturday’s event was the first time that the National WWII Museum has hosted a round of an Academic Games tournament. Following the competition, students and their families were invited to tour the museum.
