The Brother Martin Track and Field team claimed the 9-5A District Championship yesterday evening...
The Brother Martin Track & Field team defended their title in the District 9-5A track and field meet last night at Tad Gormley Stadium. Individual event winners were Grant Buquoi in the shot put, Jason Paulin in the pole vault, and Austin Tatum in the 400-meter dash. With only three first-place finishes, the overall team title was secured with strong showings by all members of the program. The athletes scored in 18 of 19 events and had multiple scorers in 6 of these events. The depth and collective versatility of the team lent to the bulk of our scoring, leading to a total of 141 points (which was 15 points ahead of second place).
"It was indeed a testament to the overall strength of the program, a trait we strive for every year," said Coach Duplechain. The squad qualified 23 athletes for the regional meet next Wednesday.
Congratulations, Crusader Track and Field team! We are so proud of all your hard work thus far this season. Good luck at regionals!
