U.S. Navy Blue Angels Presentation Takes Brother Martin Crusaders to Great Heights!

Members of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels team visited Brother Martin High School and shared wisdom pertaining to leadership, teamwork, and dedication with our Crusaders...

On Friday, March 18th, 2022, two members of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels flight demonstration team talked to a select group of students about what it takes to be a member of such an elite, driven unit. Blue Angel number 4, Major Frank Zastoupil, is the slot pilot that flies in the center of the formation during these air shows. Major Zastoupil said their team spends 300 days per year away from home performing across the country.

Major Zastoupil also spoke about how important trust is to the functionality of the team. Major Zastoupil spoke about how important it is that there is strong trust between him and his crew. He entrusts his life to them and believes that their efforts on the ground will keep him safe in the air. There is also tremendous trust in place between pilots as they often fly within inches of each other's planes at extremely high speeds. Similarly, members of the Brother Martin community strive to hold to Fr. André Coindre's motto of "courage and trust" in all those we interact with and serve.

Sergeant Zachary Parsons works on the C-130 support aircraft known as Fat Albert. “It’s been great being part of this team. It is difficult, but we all work together to accomplish the mission.”

Students asked questions about the tough schedule and work that it takes to get to that level. “I knew this is what I wanted to do,” said Major Zastoupil. “I had a goal and kept working until I achieved it. I worked hard to get here and feel fortunate that I am able to do what I love every day.” Our Crusaders being able to correspond with such great leaders has been a one of a kind experience that will surely lead them to great heights moving forward.

We would like to congratulate our very own Athletic Director, Mr. Mark Wisniewski '81, for being selected out of the entire New Orleans area to fly in the Navy's C-130 demonstration aircraft this weekend. Congratulations, Mr. Wisniewski, and have fun on your flight! We would also like to thank Commander Bruce D. Nolan, '90, USN (Ret.) and Senior Chief Romico J. Barnes for setting up this incredible experience for our school community.

We would like to thank the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and all members of the U.S. Armed Forces for being role models of selflessness and dedicating their lives to the security of our nation.
