Brother Martin High School students joined hundreds of other Catholic grammar school and high school students from around the archdiocese on Thursday, the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, for a Mass celebrating Catholic Schools Week. The Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Gregory Aymond who said that he had just returned from Rome from his Ad Limina visit with Pope Benedict XVI. The Archbishop told the students that Pope Benedict asked him how New Orleans was faring as it recovers from Hurricane Katrina and last year’s oil spill. The Pope also asked if the children of the archdiocese know Christ. The Archbishop responded by telling the Pope of the Mass celebrating Catholic Schools week. Senior David Aucoin and freshman Eugene Granier were altar servers for the Mass which was held at St. Dominic Church.
