On Monday, January 29, Brother Martin representatives, Director of Alumni Scott Corrente ’83 and Principal Ryan Gallagher ’00, took time away from their daily responsibilities to visit Crusader alumni currently attending Tulane University.
Recently, alumni visited students on the campuses of Louisiana State University (LSU) and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL). Brother Martin faculty and staff, along with Mr. Corrente and Mr. Gallagher, always enjoy seeing how former students are doing in a collegiate setting and also enjoy sharing current Brother Martin news.
A former student, Juancarlos Torres II ’16, commented that “not only did the teachers at Brother Martin teach us the curriculum, but were tremendous role models.” Torres is currently majoring in cell and molecular biology.
Principal Gallagher also enjoyed the opportunity to reminisce his time on Tulane’s campus. A graduate of Tulane, he earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees at Tulane University. Principal Gallagher reflected that “with the exception of watching our current students on a daily basis excel both inside and outside of the classroom, nothing is more rewarding than hearing from our recent graduates about how prepared they feel after having left Brother Martin as they attack their next challenges – socially, spiritually, and academically. It is so rewarding to see our young men in action as our recent alums grow into mature young men who are indeed learning how to make a life – one of service, scholarship, and stewardship.” In addition, the Crusader presence is very strong on Tulane’s campus as many alumni are involved with their majors in digital media, finance, engineering along with extracurricular clubs.
As a thank you for spending time with Mr. Corrente and Principal Gallagher, fellow alumni received various Brother Martin gift items as well as pertinent information on the activities occurring on Brother Martin’s campus. They also look forward to participating in future events hosted by the Office of Alumni.
