Class of 2018 Celebrates their Last Grandparents Day

DSC06946The Class of 2018 welcomed their grandparents to their last Grandparents Day at Brother Martin on Monday, December 11. This year, the senior Grandparents Day was a touch more personal with lunch held in the Brother Mark Thornton Terrace. The tables were decked out with crimson and gold table toppers and their plates were full with delicious spaghetti and meatballs from Wayne and April Lee. What a beautiful image to see the Bro. Mark Thornton Terrace filled, with 95 seniors and 175 grandparents, at tables with their loved ones sharing a meal together.

Crusader grandparents were treated to lunch and received a special gift of a Brother Martin potholder for their home. After lunch, they could take photos with their grandsons by Romaguera Photography. The group shots were photographed by Ralph Romaguera, Jr. ’90DSC06942

Senior Brandon Robbins was able to enjoy his last grandparents day as a Crusader with his twin brother, senior Blake Robbins, and their grandparents. “I appreciated how they made this year special by providing us with a special lunch and venue in the Ridgley Center. I especially enjoyed the time I got to spend with my grandparents, because I seldom get to meet with just them. Normally, I meet with them in a family setting with more people. Overall, it was a great experience and I would strongly advise younger students to savor the time they get to spend with their grandparents and try to cherish the memories and advice they provide,” reflected Brandon Robbins ’18.

Brandon and Blake’s Grandmother, Mrs. Connie Rodgers also commented, “What a difference five years can make! We loved taking our young boys to lunch and now we love taking our young men. Thanks to Brother Martin for making them such fine young men!”

On behalf of Brother Martin, we enjoyed hosting a great lunch for our seniors and their family members. We hope all of the guests and their grandsons had a great time together on campus. Thank you to all of our Crusader grandparents, volunteers who served and family who attended!
