This past weekend, the Crusaders traveled to the Northshore to compete in the St. Paul’s Invitational. The first match pitted the Crusaders against nationally ranked Ocean Springs, MS. Colin Ward, Carlos Fernandez, Michael DeFatta, Blake Robbins, and Guillermo Reyes all scored goals as the Crusaders cruised to a 5-1 victory. The next match featured a familiar opponent in the Jesuit Blue Jays. The Crusaders emerged with a 1-0 victory after an own goal by the Blue Jays. In the championship game, Brother Martin faced off against the host St. Paul’s Wolves. In a very evenly played match the Crusaders came out on the losing end by a score of 1-0. Congratulations to the soccer team for reaching the championship game against some of the best competition in the state!
In addition, congratulations to junior Blake Robbins who was named The New Orleans Advocate Athlete of the Week. Blake scored 19 goals in 13 matches as he headed into the Crusaders’ final game of the St. Paul’s Holiday Invitational last weekend.
