Last Friday, Brother Martin held its annual Homecoming festivities. The fun started with an alumni and student tailgate outside of Tad Gormley stadium. The group was treated to food, games, and music before heading into the stadium. At the end of the tailgate, the Crusader NJROTC help present the 2013 Homecoming Court and the band and cheerleaders performed to get the crowd pumped up!
The Crusaders were trailing 14-0 in the second quarter against Holy Cross when Brice Johnston’s first touchdown came with 6:18 remaining in the second quarter on a 4-yard swing pass on fourth-and-3 to cut the lead to seven.
At halftime, the band performed and Andie Corin Cancienne was introduced as the 2013 Homecoming Queen.
Brother Martin scored on the opening drive of the second half when sophomore quarterback Jake Broggi found senior tight end Vincent Duhe for a 23-yard touchdown. Holy Cross took a 21-14 lead with 9:18 left in the fourth quarter. Brice Johnston capped off another drive with a 20-yard run for his second touchdown of the night. Junior kicker Mitchell Boudreaux’s extra point made it 21-21 with 6:23 left to play. Costly turnovers at the end of the game resulted in the game ending with a final score of 28-21 in favor of the Tigers.
Brother Martin’s next game will be against Archbishop Shaw on Saturday, October 26th at Hoss Memtsas Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm.
