On Wednesday, May 13th, the Brother Martin Chorus presented its annual Spring concert at St. Martin de Porres Church.
Members of the fifth period Chorus performed Laura Farnell’s arrangement of “Red River Valley,” “Jordan’s Angels” by Rollo Dilworth, and “Rain Music,” also by Laura Farnell.
Following the opening of the concert, students who participated in the LMEA Solo and Ensemble Assessment and the LSU State Vocal Rally performed their solos. These singers each received the highest possible rating of superior at both the LMEA Assessment and the State Vocal Rally. Zubin Dinshaw '27 sang “Loch Lomond,” followed by Eaven Emnace’s solo, “The Black Dress.” Evan Dobson '27 performed an arrangement of “Wayfaring Stranger,” Jackson Dartez '26 sang “Black Is the Color of My True Love’s Hair,” and Toby Alfonso '27 concluded the solo section of the concert with “Sebben, Crudele.”
Sixth period Chorus members sang “Poor Wayfaring Stranger” (arr. by Victor C. Johnson), Vaughan Williams’ “Down Among the Dead Men,” and the Bob Dylan anthem “The Times They Are A-Changin’.” For the final piece, “The River” by Susan LaBarr, the singers were accompanied by Mr. Kevin Estoque (percussion) and Mr. Steven Kennedy (banjo).
