Students in Mr. Dossaji’s 8th Grade Environmental Science Class were visited by Environmental Biologist Mr. Michael Rayle who gave a demonstration regarding both water and substrate sample collecting techniques that he employs while collecting Environmental samples and data in the Gulf of Mexico. Mr. Rayle gave began by introducing himself before discussing methods and skills required to conduct various types of environmental monitoring, a demonstration of some sampling equipment and a question and answer session about this type of work especially as it related to invasive species and the BP Oil Disaster. Mr. Dossaji’s class were able to make real world connections between the work of Mr. Rayle and what they had learned in Mr. Dossaji’s class regarding the work in Lake Michigan pertaining to Mussels by Dr. Russell Cuhel.
Mr. Rayle is the parent of 8th Grader Stephen Rayle.
