Brother Martin Class of 1970 “50 for 50” Campaign

In the fall of 1969, we came together as seniors of the “Charter Class” of Brother Martin High School.
As the leaders of the new school, we had the challenge of helping to ease the merger of St. Aloysius and Cor Jesu.
Brother Mark wrote of the opening of Brother Martin High School “…you have a wonderful opportunity…”
and we took full advantage! We now have another opportunity to be leaders.

Alumni Director Kenny Spellman ’84 has challenged us with another task. He would like us to be first,
again! The challenge is for our class to raise $50,000 over the next five years. At our 50-year reunion, as
part of the 50-year celebration of Brother Martin High School, we would present the school with that
check. If we succeed, as the first 50-year class from Brother Martin, we will be able to challenge every
class after us to match our gift.

The Brother Martin Class of 1970’s legacy will live on through our gift and throughout time as the
leaders of this annual gift program. In cooperation with school leadership, we will be given the
opportunity to direct our gift to a specific need.

We plan to call the program “50 for 50″ ($50,000 for every 50-year class). The Alumni & Development
Office will support us over the next five years with fundraising events, contacting classmates and
assisting in any way to help reach our goal.

Although we were together as a class for a short period of time, we are an important part of the history
of Brother Martin High School. We were the “Charter Class”! We won the school’s first State
Championship and set a standard of excellence for all classes after us. We hope you will join us as we,
once again, set the standard for Brother Martin High School.

We will be sending additional “50 for 50″ Campaign information in the near future. If you would like to
assist with the committee or donate, please contact us or the Office of Alumni and Development at (504) 284-6700 or alumni@brothermartin.com.
