Brother Martin Lacrosse coach Chris Duffy recently returned from Nepal just in time for the 2016 Lacrosse season to begin. Duffy was working in the rural Nuwakot region in the “foothills” of the Himalayas serving as a volunteer with All Hands Volunteers organization. This international non profit has been in Nepal since the earthquake last spring, specializing in disaster relief, recovery, and reconstruction. As a team leader, he organized a small group of other volunteers in the field building a school and working directly with families rebuilding their homes. With a donation from the Brother Martin Lacrosse program, Duffy was able to field the first lacrosse team in this remote area of Nepal. He instituted practice almost daily after working on site so that the Nepali kids and volunteers could enjoy a break from their daily duties. Duffy plans to return to Nepal following the Brother Martin Lacrosse season to lead a mobile team in building a school and expand the Nepali Lacrosse program.
