Symphonic Wind Tour Performs at Brother Martin

IMG_4678On Tuesday, January 12th Brother Martin welcomed the Symphonic Wind Ensemble (SWE) from Central College of Pella, Iowa. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Mitchell B. Lutch of the Music Department at Central College. The ensemble performed in front of a full audience of Crusaders as part of their 2016 Symphonic Wind Tour. A variety of songs performed were “Fanfare,” “Gypsy Dance,” “Amazing Grace,” and more. In addition, a special performance of “Satchmo” was played in tribute to the great Louis Armstrong and New Orleans. Brother Martin was excited to host this group as a way to model for our music students the opportunities if they continue music at the college level.

The SWE is a 50-piece instrumental group that is one of the premier ensembles on Central College’s campus. They tour every year and have recently traveled to Memphis and Merida, Mexico. Central College is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of School of Music.
