10th Annual President's Dinner

BM_PD_15Mr. Devlin thanked the Gootee Family, represented by Kathy and Ken Gootee ’70, Ben Gootee ’01 and Sara and Ryan Gootee for their sponsorship to establish the dinner. He also thanked Chairman P. Lindsey Williams ’83 and his wife Jodi for initiating the discussion which resulted in this annual event.  He introduced the Brothers of the Sacred Heart in attendance, Bro. Mark Hilton, Provincial of the United States Province, Bro. Ronald Hingle ’78, Councilor, Brother Ivy LeBlanc, Councilor, and Bro. Francis David, former Provincial of the New Orleans Province.

On the 10th anniversary of the President’s Dinner, Mr. Devlin spoke about many of Brother Martin’s major achievements since that first dinner in 2007. The achievements include completion of the Meyer Building and the James B. Branton Chapel, Backyard improvements, addition of a main campus sign, the naming of the Alumni and Development Office for Brother Jean Sobert, and the completion of Phase II.  During Phase II, fundraising efforts surpassed $16 million dollars and eight endowments were established and stand at $13 million in cash and pledges.  He continued as he highlighted the many athletic, extracurricular and academic achievements of the past ten years – ten state athletic championships, rising PSAT and ACT scores, our distinguished NJROTC unit, and the many excellent and superior ratings earned by our Crusader Band and Chorus. His closing remarks explained the re-visioning of Phase III of the Master Plan.

Mr. Devlin then asked those who have attended every dinner for the last ten years please stand to be acknowledged.  President Dinner attendees with perfect attendance, Christine and Milton Dureau ’69 CJ, Ben Gootee ’01, Davelynn and Tony Melito ’76, Beverly and Tim Napier, and Karen and Chuck Stall ’76, were acknowledged with a round of applause.
