Will Clapp ’14
Congratulations to Crusader Alumnus and LSU Tiger Will Clapp’14 for being drafted by the New Orleans Saints. Clapp was drafted with the 27th pick in the seventh round (245th pick overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft. The offensive lineman comes to a Saints team that is looking for depth along the interior of the offensive line and Clapp’s versatility could be just what the Saints need. Clapp played both right and left guard as well as center at LSU.
Clapp spent his college career at LSU where he was a three-year starter and team captain for the Tiger football team. He earned first-team All-SEC honors in 2016 and 2017 and was a finalist for the Rimington Trophy in 2017, which is the award given to the top center in college football. He was also named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. Will graduated from LSU with a degree in Sports Administration.
During his time as a Crusader, Clapp was named to the Louisiana 5A All-State, All-New Orleans Area large schools, and All-District 9-5A teams. In addition, he was also a 2014 recipient of the Golden Crusader Award. Clapp comes from a long line of Brother Martin family members with his father Tommy, a 1982 graduate, brother Jacob a 2015 graduate, brother Matthew, a 2017 graduate, and brother Michael, a current Crusader.
Clapp is also the first Crusader to be drafted since Eddie Robinson, Jr. ’88. Robinson was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the second round of the 1992 NFL Draft. He also played in the NFL for 11 years as a member of the Houston Oilers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, and the Buffalo Bills.
