The entire Brother Martin community gathered today in the Robert Conlin Gymnasium to celebrate our annual Social Justice Mass. Father Joseph Tregre, of the Houma/Thibodaux diocese and younger brother of Brother Martin World Languages Department Chair and Spanish teacher Cherie Tregre, was the celebrant. He shared his own vocation story, rooted in his faith experiences as a high school student at the Brothers of the Sacred Heart school in Houma–Vandebilt Catholic. At the conclusion of Mass, Assistant to the President/Development Director Thomas Mitchell ’79 recognized members of the Society of 1869–those who have made Brother Martin High School a beneficiary in their will or life insurance policy–who were present. Finally, Mr. Dean Songy, Welcoming Diversity Moderator and Campus Ministry Team member, announced the Anti Defamation League’s “No Place for Hate” art and essay winners and the student and faculty winners of the Bro. Collin Dugas Award for Social Justice.
