“Nominating students for the Honors Performance Series allows me to provide access to world-class performing opportunities for our students. When choosing students to nominate, I consider not only their level of musicianship, but their overall contributions to our performing arts programs here at Brother Martin. It is my hope that this experience will encourage our students to continue their musical careers long after graduation,” commented Mr. Kevin Caparotta ‘88, Director of Chorus.
Each year, the Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall invites educators to nominate students for participation in one of the performing ensembles. Each nominated student must submit an application and an audition recording.
These materials are reviewed by an esteemed panel of music professionals, and the students who are chosen for the honor ensembles represent the best high school musicians from around the world. Students who are selected have the opportunity to work with master conductors and to perform in one of the world’s greatest concert halls.
Andrew Butler ’18 is the third Brother Martin student to have been chosen for this honor. Previous participants were David Miranda ’14 and Alex Lucas ’16.
