The entire Brother Martin family mourn the loss of Judith Saux Stewart, a long time faculty member who in her seventeen years at Brother Martin served as religion teacher, assistant campus minister, and Campus Minister. Judy passed away this past Wednesday from a valiant fight against cancer and its complications; she was surrounded by her family–husband Henry, sons Michael and Carl, and daughter Kara. Mrs. Stewart served the Brothers of the Sacred Heart’s educational charism for over thirty years, first at Catholic High in Baton Rouge and then here at Brother Martin. Just a few of her accomplishments are the implementation of a retreat program at every grade level, a tiered and sustained community service hour program, and innovative and challenging student and faculty formation in the Catholic Church’s social justice teachings. She was welcoming, nurturing, and loving in all her interactions.
A funeral Mass will be held at the James B. Branton Chapel on the campus of Brother Martin High School on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 12 noon. Visitation will take place from 9 am to 12 noon.
