Mr. Franks’ ninth grade physical science class got out of the classroom and visited the lab to measure the velocity of cars on a track. Velocity is the rate at which an object changes position and the young Crusaders received some hands on learning of velocity in action. They used a formula that was taught in class to determine the velocity of the car after it was released from different points on a ramp. They also measured the time it took for the car to travel each distance. After the time was measured for each trial, the students had to determine the relationship between the velocity of the car and the release points by using the formula for average velocity.
