When Crusader alumnus and baseball letterman Keagan Gillies ’16 (#35) is not picking up wins for the Tulane Green Wave baseball team, as their Saturday starting pitcher, he is volunteering his time with the Miracle League’s baseball program. Recently, Gillies and some of his Green Wave teammates participated in a Miracle League’s baseball game which provides children with disabilities the opportunity to compete in an organized baseball game. Gillies’ history of volunteering with Miracle League goes back to when he was an eighth-grader at Brother Martin High School. For Gillies, seeing the kids play a game they love left such a profound impact on him that he started his own non-profit his junior year called “K’s for Kids.” This organization holds fundraisers throughout the year and donates all proceeds to the Miracle League.
