CyberPatriot Teams Advance to the Semifinals

DSC_5340Congratulations to the CyberPatriots on their outstanding performance in the recent State Round of competition. The national youth cyber defense competition is an online, tournament structured event in which teams of 2-6 students are scored on how well they identify and secure known vulnerabilities on a virtual network.

For the first time in our CyberPatriot team’s history, Brother Martin has advanced a team in all three divisions of the CyberPatriot competition to the Semifinal Round. Our All Service, Open, and Middle Division teams advanced based on their overall performances in the first three rounds of this tournament season.

The Open team (Joseph Bordelon, Daniel Petrov, John Miltenberger, Victor Garcia, Michael Zuppardo) was placed into the highest tier of the competition going into the State Round based on their scores from Rounds 1 and 2. Since the team was the only one from Louisiana to be seeded into this classification, they automatically advance to the Semifinals.

The Middle Division team (Du Van, Marc Graffeo, Logan Millet, Andrew Rupp, Christopher Lindner, Royce Paul) was the highest scoring Middle Division team from Louisiana in the State Round and has the highest cumulative score in the state in their classification.

The All Service team (Harrison Hedgpeth, Michael Serié, Brandon Bonvillain, Vidal Amador, Nicholas Code, Nicholas DSC_5335Lemoine) are the highest scoring team from Louisiana and are the ninth best NJROTC team in the country. They finished in the top 2% of All Service teams nationwide. They are in one of the toughest service categories in the most challenging tier of competition and still have made it to the Semifinals.

Our All Service team, composed of only NJROTC cadets, placed 15th nationwide in their division of 926 teams and in the top NJROTC teams. The Open Division team’s first place in State earned them an advancement to the Semifinals as one of 174 of 1,877 teams. The Middle Division team placed in the top 17% proving to be a top competitor nationwide out of 646 teams. Our All Service team, Open Division team and Middle Division team all placed first in Louisiana and advance to the semifinal round with a chance for a spot at the Nationals competition in Washington, DC.

Great job, CyberPatriot Crusaders!
