USA Cheer has announced the schools represented on the US Junior Coed National team, which will represent the United States in the Junior Elite Division at the 2018 International Cheer Union (ICU) World Championships, which takes place April 25-27 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World® Resort.
Jessica Spitale Fresina, current head coach for our Crusader cheerleading squad, has been named head coach for the Junior Coed US National team. Fresina, who was a cheerleader captain of the Brother Martin Cheer Team during her high school years and captain of the Louisiana State University team, was also a two-time high school coed partner stunt national champion. She coached the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School Team to three national championships before taking on coaching responsibilities for Brother Martin.
“I am extremely excited to have Jessica leading the US Junior Coed National Team in 2018,” says Tony Nash, Director of US National Teams for USA Cheer, the governing body for cheer in the US. “Jessica is a former LSU cheerleader, which gives her a wealth of knowledge at all skill levels. We are extremely confident in her ability to bring together a group of athletes to form the US Junior Coed National team.”
“Two of my greatest passions in life are cheerleading and love for my country,” says Fresina. “Being selected to coach the US Junior Coed National Team is an extreme honor for me and has truly humbled me to the core. I look forward to proudly representing the USA with these talented athletes.”
The Junior Coed US National Team will be comprised of athletes from several schools from Southern Louisiana. Madi Guidry will assist Fresina with coaching duties for the team.
