Do you have ‘spirit’, Crusaders?
Crusaders abandoned the Conlin Gymnasium this bright Friday morning for the first ever outdoor Pep Rally held in The Backyard. Student Council President Colby Coulon ’18 and members of the Student Council gathered the Crusaders and guests around the stage for some ‘crimson & gold’ cheers led by the cheerleaders and echoed by the student body. The Crusader Band also played some upbeat game-day songs to energize the spirit in preparation for a great weekend. Dr. Tony Melito was even a guest conductor for the Band as he led them in “Word Up.”
Also, members of both the football team and the cross country team were introduced, and they encouraged spectators to support them in their upcoming competitions this weekend. Recently, the cross country team, under the direction of head coach Drew Haro ’03, was victorious in their district meet as they won first place. The football team (5-4, 3-2) too was coming off a win against the Shaw Eagles. Then, Colby Coulon and Damon Smith ’18 officiated the battle of tug of war among grade levels with the tenth and twelfth grade Crusaders reigning victorious.
In addition, a mock cross country race took place as members of the Crusader student body circled a small field with Eric Milligan ’20 taking first place. Haro encouraged all to attend the cross country regional meet today at 4:45 p.m. in City Park. The pep rally ended with tunes from the Crusader Band.
The Crusader football team will close district play tonight against the Jesuit Blue Jays at 7 p.m. in Tad Gormley stadium. Come cheer on the Crusaders and catch performances from the Alumni Band Reunion, Junior High Band, and the Kiddy Cheerleaders.
