At the end of the spring season, Brother Martin proved there is a lot to look forward to as a Crusader fan in the 2015 season.
Slidell struck first scoring on a 43-yard reception deep down the middle of the field and later scoring a 12-yard touchdown. However, after the strong Tiger start, the Crusader offense and defense started to click.
Brother Martin’s offense attacked Slidell with a variety of weapons. Quarterback Jake Broggi hit workhorse Bruce Jordan-Swilling on a routine swing pass and he powered his way down the field for the Crusaders’ first score of the game. Jordan-Swilling scored on receptions of 35 and 48 yards and also notched an 8-yard touchdown run for a trio of scores.
Defensively, the Brother Martin first-team forced two turnovers including a 35-yard TD interception by linebacker Patrick Willis.
Other standouts from the scrimmage were WR Jeremy Singleton and TE Irv Smith, along with Fernando Harris and Andrew McGuire, who each scored on touchdown receptions of 60-plus yards.
Brother Martin opens the 2015 season against E.D. White in the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Jamboree on Friday, August 28th at 7:15 pm on the campus of Nicholls State University.
