Members of the Brother Martin community gathered on Saturday, January 10th, at the home of Dr. Keith Lescale ’79 for our “Crusader Carvival Kickoff”.  Proceeds from the event will be directed to a merit-based band scholarship fund to help attract the finest young musicians in our area to Brother Martin High School.  The evening began with cocktails at the Lescale home on historic St. Charles Avenue. Patrons then boarded buses and headed to the Rex Den.  There, Dr. Stephen Hales, 2017 King of Carnival, greeted everyone, gave a brief history of the Rex organization and its mission, and then he and Arthur Hardy led tours of the den.  After the tour, it was back to St. Charles Avenue, where members of the Crusader “Brass Band” led a Second Line to the Lescale home.  Once inside, guests enjoyed delicious food from Toulouse Gourmet Catering.  The Payton Falgout Band then took the stage, and revellers danced the night away.  Other special guests included Brother Martin President Greg Rando ’77 and his wife, Bonnie; the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Provincial for the Province of the United States; and the 2026 Brother Martin Alumnus of the Year, Br. Ronald Hingle, S.C. ’78, and event organizer Cissy Yakelis and her husband, Raymond.
