Crusader Band Brings Christmas Cheer with Annual Concert

DSC07418On Wednesday, December 13, members of the Crusader Band, under the direction of Mr. Dominick Caronna ’85 and Mr. Chris Bailey ’86, welcomed guests to their “Annual Christmas Concert” held in the Robert M. Conlin Gymnasium at Brother Martin. Crusaders from the Novice, Symphonic, and Concert Bands put on their “Santa hats” and smiles to perform a variety of seasonal pieces. The Jazz Band kicked off the evening with a few Christmas classics while guests took their seats.

The Symphonic Band performed Christmas songs such as “Up on a Housetop” by Jeff Simmons, “The Polar Express” by Michael Story, and many more. As first-year players with their instruments, the Novice Band played “Good King Wenceslas & Jolly Old St. Nicholas,” by James Ployhar, and ended with “Fanfare Noel” by David Shaffer.

Lastly, the Concert Band took the floor to conclude the program for the evening. DSC07464Crusader Concert Band wow’d their friends and families in the audience with their renditions of “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “Midnight Sleighride,” and a “O Come, O Come Emmanuel.” A special moment during the concert was when senior Allan Merida conducted the Concert Band players through his own arrangement of Pentatonix’s “Carol of the Bells.”

Senior Allan Merida reflected, “It was a great experience being able to conduct something that I arranged. It turned out pretty well.” We are so proud to showcase our Crusader Band with their amazing musical and lyrical talents.

Merry Christmas to all from the Crusader Band!
