Three Brother Martin seniors recently made their college scholarship selections final on National Signing Day, 2022...
On National Signing Day, Wednesday, February 2, 2022, Brother Martin seniors Corey Lambert, Jr., Garrett Mmahat, and Jayson Montgomery-Scott signed their Letters of Intent to play collegiate football at their respective universities. Before signing, Mark Bonis, head football coach at Brother Martin, shared meaningful words with all present:
"Dear Heavenly Father,
We come together today in Thanksgiving for these young men, their past achievements, and their upcoming opportunities. We ask you to continue to bless them and their families as they move forward with their careers. Finally, we pray that you grant these young men the fortitude to exhaust their God-given gifts in the next chapter of their journey. With these thoughts in our hearts, we pray, Our Father...
On behalf of our football program, I would like to thank all of those who are in attendance to celebrate this special occasion. These three young men epitomize what it means to be Brother Martin student-athletes, and we are here today to honor all of their hard work. Congratulations to their parents, for having raised remarkable young men. It truly has been a gratifying experience for us to watch your sons mature throughout their journey here at Brother Martin. Thank you for entrusting us with the care of your sons over the course of their high school careers. Corey, Garrett, and Jayson: thank you for setting a tremendous example for our underclassmen, and I hope you know that you will be greatly missed. Through your leadership, we have reached the semi-finals in three of the last four years. We finished as the 2020 undefeated Catholic League Champions & once again went undefeated on the field in the 2021 regular season. Prior to your arrival at Brother Martin, our football team had only completed one undefeated regular season. You three young men helped our team accomplish this twice in consecutive seasons. In the last two seasons, our overall record on the field has been 18-2, which makes it the most successful consecutive season campaign in Brother Martin football history. Thank you for all that you have done to make that happen.
Because of your commitment to excellence, you all will continue a rich tradition here at Brother Martin, in joining the fraternity of former Crusader student-athletes who have moved on to play football at college. Corey, Garrett, and Jayson, remember that you will always be a member of this Brother Martin football family. As you move on to the next chapter of your lives, continue to approach every day with a consistency of purpose and a sense of urgency while striving to live by our program principles of Team, Tough, Compete, and Finish. Corey, Garrett, and Jayson on behalf of our football program, as well as Brother Martin, I would like to congratulate you today for your commitments to your respective universities.
Congratulations to Corey Lambert, Jr. who signed with Colorado State University.
Congratulations to Garrett Mmahat who signed with Tulane University.
Congratulations to Jayson Montgomery-Scott who signed with the Scott-Air Force Academy."
Congratulations to our senior Crusader athletes for taking this important step as well as for their tremendous dedication and hard work over the course of their time here at Brother Martin.
