Brother Martin High School Students Learn How to End Distracted Driving

enddistracteddrivingJoel Feldman, founder of End Distracted Driving, in cooperation with representatives from the Louisiana Association for Justice, hosted an End Distracted Driving (EndDD) presentation for the members of the junior class on Friday afternoon.  Crusader juniors participated in a discussion, watched videos, and acted in a skit to learn about distracted driving and what can cause these distractions.

EndDD was started by Joel Feldman of Philadelphia after the death of his 21-year-old daughter Casey was killed in 2009 by a distracted driver. Two years later Feldman began talking to students and parents in his community to create awareness about distracted driving and promote safe driving habits. Since then, more than 100,000 students in several states have participated in EndDD.

Also participating in the presentation was Mrs. Feldman and Roderick Alvendia an attorney from New Orleans.

Car crashes are the number one killer of teens and 80 percent of these collisions have some form of driver distraction as a contributing factor. Statically, distracted driving is the cause of 4 million crashes per year.

The End Distracted Driving program is an interactive, informative community education program for young drivers, college students and parents which brings attention to the dangers of distracted driving. EndDD highlights serious statistics of the current safety crisis, shares true stories of the effects of distracted driving, and offers simple steps that students can use immediately to help themselves and others around them.
