An Interview with Joseph Arrigo

IMG_3672As the year comes to a close, I feel it is necessary to interview an outstanding senior. As he reflects upon his past experiences as a Crusader, he tells of his excitement to start anew at the University of Alabama. He was the president of the Dionysians and a stellar student. This senior is Joseph Arrigo.

Where are you going to school next year and why? Do you feel prepared?

Joseph: University of Alabama (Political Science and Theatre)–First of all, they gave me a scholarship, but that is definitely not the only reason. When I visited the school, I just loved it. I loved the atmosphere and felt like it was the place for me. I have not met a single person who did not like their experience there, and it is an excellent school. My time at Brother Martin, especially with the Advance Placement courses I’ve taken, has prepared me for college. Of course, I know there are changes I can’t prepare for.

What are some of your fondest memories at Brother Martin?

Joseph: Some of my fondest memories come from acting in the musicals at Brother Martin. I was fortunate enough to have a principle role in the musicals three years in a row. Of course, there is more than just doing the show. It’s really doing the show with the amazing and talented people around you. I’m probably going to miss some of the friendships I’ve made over the years. Since I’m going away to college, it will be harder to keep in touch, so I will need a kind of fresh start. With today’s technology, connecting with others is much easier, so we’ll see! I will definitely miss performing in shows and concerts at Brother Martin. Also, I will miss Academic Games competitions, especially the national tournament.

What “special senior year moment” are you looking forward to the most?

Joseph: Honestly, the moment I’m looking forward to most is graduation. Don’t get me wrong, senior year was great, but graduation is the culmination of all my years at Brother Martin. It is a time of reflection and looking toward the future at the same time. During the year, my favorite moments were being able to bow down to the Spirit at pep rallies. It’s pretty awesome.

Finally, any advice for incoming or current students?

Joseph: Don’t be afraid to be yourself. Brother Martin does a great job fostering the individual talents of students, so find what you’re good at and get involved! Don’t be what somebody else tells you to be, or you will never be happy. So be yourself!
