Building for Champions: Brother Martin High School Begins Major Renovation of E.A. Farley Field

Brother Martin High School is proud to announce the start of renovations to E.A. Farley Field. This comprehensive reimagining of the historic athletic complex represents Phase I of the school's latest capital campaign, Building for Champions, a significant investment in facilities that will benefit current and future Crusaders while supporting the school's mission of forming young men for life.

"We are excited to begin work in earnest on E.A. Farley Field," said Brother Martin President Greg Rando '77. "This project symbolizes the continued strength and growth of Brother Martin High School. We are grateful for the generosity and vision of those who have made this project possible and excited to provide a resource that will serve generations of Crusaders for years to come.”

Farley Field serves as the home venue for Crusader baseball and soccer and as the primary practice facility for football and track and field. The transformational renovation will feature the installation of synthetic turf, allowing expanded use by athletic programs, extracurricular and co-curricular clubs and activities, intramurals, and physical education classes.

The project will also include the addition of LED field lighting, ushering in a new era of Crusader Athletics by enabling evening home contests for baseball and soccer.

In addition to new turf playing surfaces for baseball, football, and soccer, the renovation will feature a 50-yard multipurpose practice field and substantial upgrades to the track and field training complex, including running lanes, jumps and pole vault runways, javelin training areas, and enhanced discus and shot put practice facilities.

Additional improvements will include state-of-the-art locker rooms, new baseball dugouts, expanded spectator seating, an upgraded concession stand, and an enhanced press box designed to elevate the experience for student-athletes, families, alumni, and visitors.

"This project reflects Brother Martin's ongoing commitment to excellence in every aspect of school life," said Director of Athletics Mark Wisniewski '81. "It is an exciting time for Crusader Athletics, and these improvements will provide our students with facilities that match their dedication, hard work, and competitive spirit."

The multi-million-dollar project will be led by Gibbs Construction in partnership with Holly & Smith Architects and is expected to be completed in Fall 2027.

"Building for Champions is a transformational reimagining of our premier athletic facility," said Principal Ryan Gallagher '00. "Brother Martin High School is a symbol of strength in New Orleans and the Gentilly neighborhood. Upon completion, Farley Field will stand among the finest high school athletic complexes in the Greater New Orleans area. It is a tangible expression of our commitment to providing students with exceptional opportunities for formation and achievement in the educational tradition of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart."

The renovation of E.A. Farley Field marks the beginning of an ambitious vision for the future of Brother Martin High School—one that honors the school's proud traditions while investing boldly in the next generation of Crusaders.

About E.A. Farley Field:

During 1980 through 1983, the school purchased a parcel of land from the Farley Family, bordered by Mandeville Street, Gentilly Blvd., St. Aloysius Drive (formerly Stephen Girard St.), and Cor Jesu Drive (formerly Marigny St.), for use in its athletic and extracurricular programs.

In 2011, as part of our Phase II of our Capital Campaign, the field underwent a renovation that included constructing a baseball field and adding additional athletic storage and restrooms. The playing surface was redone, and drainage and a sprinkler system were installed. In 2023, a covered batting facility was constructed in left field of Farley Field to assist student-athletes with the development of their skills on the diamond.
