Students in Mr. Thibodeaux's classes recently put Marcus Junius Brutus, a suspect in the assassination of Gaius Julius Caesar, on trial...

Recently, there was tension in the Brother Martin auditorium so thick that it could be cut with a knife. Why? Marcus Junius "Brutus," once an esteemed orator and politician of Rome, was being tried for the murder of his once friend and fellow countryman, Gaius Julius Caesar. Our Crusaders represented defendants and prosecutors in the trial, and they brought forth evidence from Shakespeare's accounting of the events in an attempt to persuade members of a jury.

The jury members were as follows:

  • 1st Period Jury - Mr. John Buckman's '06 Law Studies class; verdict: not guilty.
  • 2nd Period Jury - Classmates, Mr. Marcello '12; verdict: guilty.
  • 5th Period Jury - Participants in the trial from years past, as well as Mr. Thibodeaux's '07 Sophomore English Honors; verdict: not guilty.

Justice is served!

Thank you, Mr. Thibodeaux, for providing such an engaging lesson for our Crusaders. This was a challenging yet enjoyable lesson - great work, Crusaders!
