Mason Willliams ’15, a freshman at The University of Chicago, is a member of their wrestling team and named athlete of the week. Recently, Williams made his debut at the UAA Wrestling Championship. He was one of only two freshmen to win the weight class titles at the UAA Championships hosted by UChicago. He won the 141-pound title by going 2-0 by pinning his opponent from Case Western Reserve University in the first period. Then, he followed up with a late take down in the waning seconds to beat NYU 4-3. On the season, Williams owns a record of 15-13.
Last year, Williams served as a captain of the Crusader Wrestling team. He was on the 2015 ExxonMobile/ISC All-Academic Scholar Wrestling and the All-New Orleans Area team. During his senior year he was honored with 100 wins in his career at Brother Martin.
