The earliest mention of a bowling team at St. Aloysius is the 1940-41 school year.
Aloysian: "On February 15 a bowling league for all high school teams was begun at O’Shaughnessy’s bowling alleys. The teams are scheduled to bowl three games each Saturday for eleven weeks. The schools represented in the tournament are as follows: Metairie, Rugby, Newman, Fortier, Holy Cross, Jefferson, Peters, Easton, and Westwego."
Members of the team were Herman Prager, Johnson (either Jerome or Lewis), Whittney Theriot, and C. J. Schexnaildre.
The March 1941 issue of the Aloysian reported that the Crusaders were in first place by virtue of three wins over Holy Cross. "The Bowling team thanks Joe Gemelli who succeeded in acquiring new bowling uniforms from the Graff Clothing Company."
