Mr. Gerald Ursin III '07 grew up in New Orleans and went on to graduate from Brother Martin in 2007 alongside his fraternal twin, Nicholas, legacies of their father, Gerald Jr., who graduated in 1972. Gerry III attended St. Pius X and Christian Brothers prior to coming to Brother Martin in the 8th grade.

While at Brother Martin, Mr. Ursin belonged to various clubs and sports.

  • As a senior, he was elected Student Ambassador President.
  • He was a Senior Class Representative.
  • He also participated in Key Club, Student Ministers, Welcoming Diversity, Lacrosse, Newspaper staff, and even attended Close Up.
  • Mr. Ursin boasts of his extracurricular involvement, saying,

In my junior and senior year at Brother Martin, I spent more time here than I did at my own house.

After graduating from Brother Martin, Mr. Ursin attended the University of Southern Mississippi.
  • As in high school, he participated in Student Government, acting as a Cabinet member.
  • He graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Religion.
Although he earned acceptance to Loyola University Law School, Mr. Ursin came back to Brother Martin to fulfill his high school calling to be a teacher.
  • As he starts his third year as a faculty member, he teaches freshman religion and moderates the Student council.
  • I truly believe that I am the man I am today because of Brother Martin High School. I wanted to give back to this school that gave so much to me.
