Shields '17 and Swilling '17 Named Top Athletes

Steven Shields ’17 (#7) and Bruce Jordan- Swilling ’17 (#3) were selected as NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune All-Metro Male Athletes of the Year for 2015-2016. Shields and Jordan- Swilling were two student athletes out of fifteen placed on this inaugural list made up of the top student athletes in the metro area.

Steven Shields helped the Crusader wrestling program take home their fifth straight state title in 2016. He took home a third straight Division I title in the 120-pound weight class. He was also named to The New Orleans Advocate’s All-Metro wrestling team and was awarded the title of “Most Valuable Wrestler” at the 2016 Brother Martin Wrestling Convocation.

Bruce Jordan- Swilling rushed nearly 2,000 yards and had over 30 touchdowns during the 2015 football season. He is currently a topped- rank player and a college recruit.  During the fall, he was selected as R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, WGSO, 990 AM, WHNO TV 20, and Friday Night Football Prep Player of the Week by the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation (GNOSF) Quarterback Club. He was also selected as a Greater New Orleans Amateur Athlete of the Month in September and was a New Orleans Metro area Large Schools Male Athlete of the Week. Jordan- Swilling is also a member of the Crusader basketball program.
