Pippin Pursues All Possibilities!

DSC_0018This fall the Brother Martin Dionysians will be performing Pippin, a Tony Award winning musical.

The story focuses on Prince Pippin (Michael Alley ‘16), son of King Charlemagne (Alex Lucas ‘16, Ethan Olsen ‘16).  A mystical performance troupe, guided by Leading Player (Cody Elsensohn ‘18), orchestrates Pippin’s search for fulfillment in life.  The troupe provides Pippin with many curious choices in order to explore all that life has to offer, from the glories of war to new and numerous romantic encounters, and even fratricide!  Despite all of the galvanizing possibilities and experiences, Pippin is still left with a sense of emptiness.  Just as Pippin begins to lose hope, he meets Catherine, a widow with a young son name Theo (Robbie McDonald ‘16).  Pippin and Catherine fall in love, and when it appears that he may have finally found deeper meaning in his life, he begins to think that his life is too ordinary for his extraordinary ambitions.

Will Pippin settle into family life with Catherine and Theo, or will he be tempted and mislead yet again by Leading Player?

Opening night is Friday, November 13th at 7:30 p.m. in the Brother Martin Auditorium.  The show runs Thursday, Friday, and Saturday through November 21st.  Tickets are $10.

The Brother Martin Dionysians are thrilled to introduce their new moderator, Mr. Ryan Nocito ‘06.  Mr. Nocito was a member, performer, and student-director of the Dionysians during his time as a Brother Martin student.  This is Mr. Nocito’s first year on the faculty at Brother Martin, but he is well versed and rehearsed as a Dionysian.
