Brother Martin High School is teaming up with Ochsner Blood Bank for the Blood Drive on Tuesday, October 17. The Ochsner Bloodmobile will be located on St. Aloysius Drive (Conlin Gym entrance) from 8 a.m until 2 p.m. The Blood Drive is great opportunity for the Crusader community to participate in the “Blood Battle” to see who can save the most lives by donating blood. Last school year the seniors won! Can the juniors take it to the next level for this school year’s Blood Drives? The informational flyer and consent to donate form can be printed out here and copies can also be found in the Student Services Office. Participants must be at least 16 years old and will need to have a parent’s signature on the form in order to donate blood.
Ochsner will also choose one scholarship winner at the end of the school year from those Crusader seniors who donated blood. For every pint of blood that is donated this school year at either of our blood drives, by either students or parents, Ochsner will ‘donate’ $10 per pint to the scholarship fund and choose a senior – out of the hat of donors – to receive money that will be sent directly to the college or university to be credited to that student’s fees. For example, last school year Brother Martin juniors, seniors, and some of their parents donated a total of 56 units of blood and one of those senior donors was chosen to receive $560 ‘scholarship’ from Ochsner that was credited toward his college fees!
Please contact the Ochsner Blood Bank (504-842-3375) or Ms. Shannon Becnel in the Office of Student Services with any questions regarding donating blood or about the scholarship program.
Please consider donating blood to help save a life!
