On Friday, Dr. Jonathan Earle, History professor and Dean of the LSU Honors College, visited Mr. Vicknair’s Honors and AP U.S. History classes and Ms. Williams’ Honors and AP Civics classes. Dr. Earle presented a lecture, “The Civil War and Historical Memory,” and discussed recent news concerning the war, such as the removal of Confederate statues, etc.
Junior Christopher MacDowell commented that “Dean Earle led my AP U.S. History class in a discussion on the the contemporary significance of the Civil War both in Louisiana and in the nation. He described the unique opportunities of applying to LSU as an honors student. My class and I greatly appreciate his visit to Brother Martin, and we look forward to working with him in the future.
In addition, students were also given the opportunity to ask questions about LSU Honors College, including the admissions process, opportunities for undergraduate research, and scholarships.
