The ‘Hour of Code’ is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek) and Code.org to introduce millions of students to at least one hour of computer science and computer programming. Brother Martin recognizes the need for computer scientists and pushes its students to be more than just consumers of technology.
Today, students in the Digital Media and Computer Applications I classes attempted the Hour of Code activities and the Bebras Challenge to test their critical thinking skills. All of Brother Martin’s Computer Science courses introduce each student to some level of programming. Although the ‘Hour of Code’ comes after the most students’ initial introduction to coding at Brother Martin, completing the activities on Code.org is a fun and simple way to keep students interested in the art of programming.
